While there is no doubt that photography takes an immense amount of skill to master, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge how much good photography is dependent on being in the right place at the right time.

As my family and I headed up into Mt. Timpanogos for the photo excursion, I was hopeful that we would be able to find and capture some beautiful landscapes during Golden and Blue Hour — and lucky for me — nature came through. My process consisted mainly of looking out the car window as we drove higher into the mountains and telling my brother-in-law when to pull over when I saw something worth capturing. Many of my shots from this series were bracketed, as it helped me recreate the levels of exposure (and beauty) that my eye saw.
